Performance Data and Validations
Our experience in the field since April 2000 has been validated by several independent studies.
Regular testing carried out initially in The Intronics Technology Center and BUET had shown 100% success rate of arsenic removal to well below the permissible Bangladesh limit of 0.05 mg/l.
The treated water also meets the drinking water quality parameters of the WHO guide lines as well as Bangladesh EQ Standard for Drinking Water. Testing under the rapid assessment validation exercise also confirmed the same results.
BAMWSP/DFID/WaterAid Validation
This was the most notable of the independent validations. The project was funded by the UK Government Department for International Development (DFID) in conjunction with the Bangladesh Arsenic Water Mitigation Supply Project (BAMWSP) and Water Aid, and undertaken by the UK consulting firm, WS Atkins. After an initial assessment of possible systems, the nine most promising approaches were included in Phase I of the study.
In Phase 1, field trials were carried out at five wells in four geographical areas; viz. 20 sites in total. This study was completed in January 2001 and the seven preferred technologies were then subjected to a Phase 2 study. This study considered other factors including user reactions and was completed in March 2001.
The MAGC Technologies system containing Alcan's media came out as the most effective system for removing arsenic and was also the preferred system as judged by the users with respect to ease of operation, water flow rate, and taste of water.
The study has proven that the MAGC environment friendly system exceeds the current requirements for arsenic removal:
-reduction of arsenic levels to below Bangladesh standard in virtually all cases;
-complied with International standards of arsenic removal to below 0.01 mg/l;
-first choice of the users, enjoys tremendous user and community acceptance;
-flow rate in excess of 300 liters/hour;
-units to meet the needs from 1 to 100 families;
-easy to use and requires very little maintenance;
-no adverse effect on water chemistry;
-locally manufactured units.

Regional Research Laboratory, Bhopal trials
Trials on fluoride removal are in progress at PHED hand pump sites near Bhopal under the auspices of The Regional Research Laboratory, Bhopal. Regional Research Laboratory (RRL), Bhopal (Govt. of India, a CSIR Laboratory) has been engaged in field testing and evaluation of the performance of fluoride removal delivery unit, which can be installed to the outlet of a hand pump. The units supplied by RPM Marketing Pvt. Ltd. were installed at PHED hand pumps at various locations in villages near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. These units were closely monitored by RRL and effectively removed fluoride to levels well below the Bureau of Indian Standard limits. RRL is presently monitoring the unit installed at Chakpatni Village, Vidisha District near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The latest analysis report of the unit installed at PHED hand pump at Chakpatni is as follows:
